"Napoli was looking for an excuse."

The motivations of the FIGC Court of Appeal which rejected Napoli's appeal on the match against Juventus, confirming the 3-0 at the table for the Bianconeri and the -1 in the standings for Napoli was: "Napoli's behaviour aimed at providing an alibi for not playing".

On these grounds, the Court reiterated that "the ultimate aim of the sporting system is to enhance sporting merit, loyalty, honesty and healthy competition", stressing that "this principle has not been respected , Napoli's behaviour in the days before the match aimed at establishing, so to speak, an 'alibi' for not playing the game."
