With the Serie A window officially closed, let’s look at what moves our darling club made this summer. As usual, Juventus were linked with almost every player, even the Legendary Messi was linked at some point. The squad has been crying for rejuvenation for a while now and time after time some of the fans (actually all) have been disappointed when it came to sales and signings. However significant moves were made this window that should give the fans some sort of hope and renewed optimism heading into the season.
Maurizio Sarri: 10/10
Somehow won us the title but the less that’s said about the team performances under his tenure the better (did he really want to sign Jorghnio???)
Miralem Pjanić: 6/10
He never really reached the heights of his Roma days, a string of mixed performances and errors led to his eventual sale. Scored and assisted important goals and will always be a Bianconeri, I feel he wasn’t used properly by previous coaches and Pirlo would have brought out his best. We will never know.
Blaise Matuidi: 10/10
One of my favorite players in the squad, never complained, did his job selflessly and covered for his teammates and always ready to play out of position to help the team, sadly given his age (33) and lack of technical skills, it was time to move on and the manner he handled the exit warmed my heart.
Gonzalo Higuaín: 9/10
The media has largely been unfair to Pipita and opinion is divided amongst the Juventini faithful if the €90m spent on him was money well spent. 66 goals in 146 games is an impressive return but given his age and salary demands, it was finally time to let him go. I hope history will be kind to him when he retires.
Douglas Costa: (loan with no option to buy) 6/10
‘The flash’ is one of the most electric and unpredictable players in the league, unfortunately a string of injuries and inconsistent performances stagnated him as a Juventus player. I would have been happy if he was outrigtly sold but we try again next season.
Daniele Rugani: (loan with no option to buy) 7/10
Disappointed he didn’t develop into the player we all thought he could be, never reliable at the back and had more bad performances than good. Hoping he finds his feet at Rennes, s
