Now would be a good time for Paulo Dybala to show, that he is worthy of a long-term contract, buy providing much-needed leadership for the Old Lady, fill the void of Arthur and Juan Cuadrado who are sidelined by injuries.
The Old Lady have only scored once in their last three games, as Federico Chiesa gave them hope of a comeback against FC Porto in the Champions League last time. Juventus are in desperate need of some creativity, unpredictability, and inspiration going forward, and Dybala could be the answer.
After a month and a half out, the Argentine could finally return for a few minutes, as Juventus host Crotone on Monday. But it’s expected that Dybala will increase the intensity in training and give Pirlo another option in attack.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been a mainstay up front, with Dejan Kulusevski and Alvaro Morata rotating for the position next to the talisman. Dybala has to turn around his worst season since joining Juventus, with only 859 minutes on the pitch so far, contributing three goals and two assists.
The injury against Sassuolo in January was a more serious setback than first expected but the 27-year-old, who has received good luck’ messages from Tom Brady and James Harden, seems set to contribute. The wait is over and Juventus could need his creativity, as they are waiting for Juan Cuadrado too. The hope of having Dybala supporting and triggering Ronaldo, who has not scored for three games.
Dybala’s contract with Juventus expires in June 2022 and the negotiations for a new deal will have to wait until he has recovered fully and starts contributing again. The Argentine will gradually return to the line-up and should be given some minutes on Monday, as he seeks a chance to rescue his worst season yet with the Bianconeri.
