Chiesa is finally here.
Juventus finally has their man. After teasing their fans last year with obtaining Federico Chiesa, he is finally coming to Turin after Juve finalized his transfer from Fiorentina .
To make room for Chiesa, Douglas Costa was loaned to Bayern Munich to free up salary . Here is what the transfer looks like in terms of euros .
He joins the Scudetto holders on an initial two-year loan. The transfer includes an obligation to buy at the end of the 2021-22 season. Juve will pay €3 million up front, €7 million for the second year of the deal, and then an additional €40 million to make the move permanent, assuming certain "sporting" clauses are achieved.
Chiesa, who has been shifted across various positions at Fiorentina, joins a Juventus side that has made a concerted effort to inject some youth into what was an aging, squad last season under Maurizio Sarri.
New manager Andrea Pirlo suddenly has a crop of intriguing young talents to work with, though it remains to be seen where the Italian international will fit into the lineup. Being naturally a winger, Chiesa has seen time as a wing-back at Fiorentina; perhaps Pirlo, who's favored using wing-backs and a three-man defense early in his tenure, will stick with that trend? On the surface, it seems like a waste of Chiesa's most exciting attributes, but perhaps Pirlo has a grand plan in mind for one of Serie A’s most amazing talents.
